S.Carolina is not known for its pristine and faultless government officials. We have a Governor who has a thing for Latinas... and a Lt. Governor who may have a thing for latinos, but definitely has a thing for speeding and sticking his foot in his mouth. And, the good ole' boy network is alive a well. Still... S.Carolina is no AmSam.

Our Lt. Governor is currently on trial in Washington D.C. for a myriad of federal crimes. Basically, he's being accused of circumventing the local procurement laws through bribes in order to conduct business.

The trial is in its eighth day. Yesterday was the best quote yet. A co-conspirator states his actions were "all a part of the political machinery." In other words... we were just doing what we've always done.

I have a feeling someone's address is going to change from "Down in the South Pacific" to "up the river." (from "the rock" to "the rack" was a close second... from the point to the joint was a distant third.)
